Dear Tlingit Artists:
The Teslin Tlingit Heritage is pleased to announce Celebration’s Artist Market, which will be held
July 24-28, 2009 in Teslin, Yukon. Teslin Tlingit Heritage is excited to offer a facility including booths, amenities and advertising to promote and showcase artists and their work.
To provide ample time to prepare and accommodate as many artist exhibitors in limited space, we are respectfully requesting that all interested participants submit their applications prior to deadline date of June 1, 2009. The selection process will be the responsibility of Teslin Tlingit Heritage Celebration Committee. Official invitation to participate in the market will be announced by mail and is posted on the Teslin Tlingit Heritage Celebration website.
Artists are required to submit their market fee of $100 by June 5, 2009 to secure their reservation and space. Fee will include 6 ft table with cover, chair, if not a booth a divider and one artist sign.
Spaces will become available to the artist wait list if payment is not received by the deadline date. Payment may be made by check or money order payable to Teslin Tlingit Heritage Center 2009 Native Artist Market. Credit cards are also accepted.
The Teslin Tlingit Heritage Center strongly encourages artists to contact the Arts Coordinator at the Teslin Tlingit Heritage Center if they are unable to participate in the market after accepting an invitation. No Shows affect everyone at the market because empty spaces detract from the overall presentation of the event and limit opportunities to re-market the space to other artists on short notice. The Heritage Center will refund for cancellations if written notice is received at least 30 days prior to the opening of the market and any emergencies after that time will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
A complete application will include documentation of eligible native status, the application fee and the artist market rules and regulations. Your application is a contract committing you to abide by the Standards, Rules and Regulations of the market. Applications are available on the celebration website above address or you can pick them up at the Teslin Tlingit Heritage Center from Bev Morris.
The Teslin Tlingit Council’s Celebration Committee is diligently working to prepare for this exciting celebration with programs and activities that will promote our uniqueness in Ha kus teyea. We are honored and delighted in your interest in participating in the 2009 Native Artist Market.
